Two Dead In I-95 Tractor Trailer Crash That Closed Highway For Hours (Update)

Two people died in a multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer crash that closed Interstate 95 for miles Wednesday, July 5, authorities said.

The three-vehicle crash happened just after 4:40 a.m. in the northbound lanes at mile marker 136 in Stafford County, Virginia State police said.

Traffic backups in the northbound lanes were approximately 5.5 miles, beginning just north of Exit 130 in Fredericksburg as of 7:30 a.m., the Virginia DOT website showed.

Towing crews are expected to return to the scene at 6 p.m. to remove the tractor trailer that remains on the shoulder of the highway.

Identities of the victims were not immediately released.
